Coaching - Accredited by the Salmon & Trout Association and 1st4Sport. Your instructor, Matt Wright, is an approved Game Angling Instructor (level 2 Trout) with full liability insurance as well as child awareness training, CRB checked and first aid training. Courses are run either on small lakes in North Wales for rainbow trout or upland lakes for those interested in traditional wild brown trout fishing. You will catch more fish when you can cover fish and present the fly well in any conditions. Try one of our courses in beautiful scenery. Evening Courses in North Wales - 3hrs - from £50 per person including fishing permit for the evening (10% discounts for groups). This course will give you a brief introduction to the sport and casting or brush up your technique if you require. Weather permitting, groups will get a barbecue dinner as part of the package. Day Courses in North Wales - 7hrs - from £80 per person including fishing permit (discounts for groups). An ideal approach for learner or experienced angler with course content customised to suit you. The day will cover fly fishing in more depth from safety, through insect life and fly choice to casting and catching fish. Barbecue or pub lunch can be added please advise. We can also arrange overnight stays and weekend courses, please ring to discuss. All courses to suit whether learner or more experienced. Casting covering all styles for trout fishing including roll casting, overhead, hauling, adverse winds and specialist casts. "Loch-Style" Boat Fly Fishing Weekend Course Many anglers fish from the bank and are daunted by what to do with a boat. Drift boat fishing opens up a whole new world of fishing with its own style and excitement and takes you to new places. Loch-Style fishing was invented generations ago in the Celtic countries - the spiritual home of fly fishing. You’ve heard about loch-style fishing, why not learn all about this traditional and effective method in safety with an accredited instructor? Matt Wright is an experienced wild trout angler who fishes in the authentic traditional loch style as practised in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. This a fun weekend course including 3 nights accommodation, breakfast, set evening meals, boats, permits, guiding and tuition and an informal competition. Course can be run for 1 to 4 people. A great weekend for a group of friends, stag do, corporate etc. Itinerary is as follows: Arrive Friday evening, introductory session at 7.30pm and dinner at 8.30pm. Saturday morning: practical session commencing 9.30am - safety, boat handling, tackle, casting variations & tuition in boats. Barbecue/picnic lunch at 12.30. Saturday afternoon, picking drifts, locating fish, fly selection and techniques. Leave water at 7pm. Saturday night meal and talk at 8.30pm. Sunday morning commence 10am: Practising techniques and guided fishing on the best drifts. Barbecue/picnic lunch at 1.30pm. Sunday afternoon – fun loch-style competition for a bottle of Scotch whisky. Leave water at 6.30pm. Sunday evening meal at 8.00pm and prize presentation. Monday morning depart after breakfast. This course is held at a number of locations as desired: Wales - Talyllyn - £360 per person (discounts for groups). Excellent lake we use regularly. England – Ullswater - £390 per person (discounts for groups). Vastly underrated lake, rarely written about, but very good. Lovely wild brownies and a mayfly hatch. Scottish Highlands - price on application. This is an outstanding truly wild brown trout experience on remote lochs of which we have considerable experience over many years of fishing there. Your arm will be aching at the end of the day! Ultimate get away from it all experience. Why not go the whole hog and let us organise a week for you and we will fly you up via Inverness. Scottish Lowlands – £390 per person (discounts for groups) We pick traditional hotels and inns with the right atmosphere and good food. The all in price includes accommodation, set evening meal, barbecue/picnic lunch, boats/outboards, permits/licenses, tackle, guiding and tuition. Price does not include travel to and from venue and evening drinks. You are advised to bring warm and waterproof clothing for changeable conditions and you should have some basic fly fishing experience. Remember to have a valid rod licence obtainable from a post office or from the Environment Agency web site. In the event of extreme weather conditions we will make alternative arrangements. Please remember fishing and activities around water can be dangerous. Please advise us if you have any medical problems.
